Memory Lane Ashley Coffey
In this edition of Memory Lane we talked to One former Marske United player about their time in yellow and blue.

I played for a year and a half a half with Marske but left in 2018 after sustaining two bad knee injuries. I was a physical striker with good technical ability and a desire to graft hard for the team as well.
I spoke to Carl on Twitter first as I wasn’t happy at my previous club and the club managed to sort out a deal with my former team. I made my debut against Seaham and that was one of my most memorable games for the club. I scored once and Won Man of the Match.
Another match which sticks out in my mind was at home to North Shields in a cup semi-final. We were 3-1 up at one stage but eventually lost on penalties. Despite the result, it was a very good game to be involved in.
One time I cost the team by getting sent off in a FA Cup replay against Scarborough. Carl didn’t speak to me for about a week! But time passed and we eventually had a bit of a joke about how bad it was.
Carl was the only manger I played under and he was one of the best I’ve played under throughout my career. He’s a great bloke and a great man manager who understands the players and knows the team needs at certain times.
The lads. I’ve never played with a better set of lads. They were all top class and so welcoming.
That’s why before I moved to Sweden, I did most of my pre-season this year with Marske.
Another thing I really enjoyed was playing with Danny Earl. I felt like we worked so well in a partnership, so he was defiantly one of my favourite players to play alongside. He was the perfect partner who worked hard for the team, was unselfish and had a great finish on him too.
Ashley Coffey currently plays for IFK Haninge in Sweden’s 3rd tier of football Division 1 Norra League.
