GETTING TO KNOW NEW SIGNING MATTY TYMON

GETTING TO KNOW NEW SIGNING MATTY TYMON

Bob Ryan9 May 2020 - 08:25

We caught up with our new signing Matthew Tymon who was signed from Whitby Town here is what he said.

[b]Matty answers questions on himself and Marske United as the excitement continues to grow for the Club.

1. So, what attracted you to sign for Marske United?
The ambition of promotion is what attracted me to Marske. The feeling I got from Carl when I spoke to him was that he wasn’t going to settle for less than promotion this year which got me excited about joining.
2. What are your ambitions with Marske United?
Promotion is my goal, this was the reason of joining. I’m looking to be a part of a team with an expectation of winning which has been lacking for the last couple of years for me and with the current squad I see no reason why that can’t be achieved this year as I believe the squad would be strong enough for the playoffs in the division above.
3. Sure, you know how far Marske United have come and their drive to further progress, what do you think you can add to this?
I believe I can add a lot to the current squad. I’m a physical hold up/link up striker who makes things stick with my feet and I’m good in the air. I’m not blessed with pace but I’m an intelligent player and if I get enough service into the box I will score goals. I’m the type of player to bring players into the game so if I have runners going beyond me then I’ll bring a lot of chances to the team because I have an eye for a pass when I get turned.
4. Who are your former clubs?
I started off at Hartlepool United and signed professional forms with them also going out on loan to Spennymoor Town and Whitby Town before having two spells at Workington Town and Whitby Town.
5. What has been your best achievement in football.
The best achievement for me personally in football was being voted in to the top 100 players of the first 50 years of the NPL
6. Given that you have played alongside some of the current Marske players previously. Who are you most looking forward to playing alongside in the forthcoming season.?
I’d have to say Gotty, I played with him at Hartlepool and he’s a quality player. I don’t think there’s many better at making time on the ball than him and I’m looking forward to playing in the same team as him and receiving the ball into feet.
7. Who is the best player you have played against in your career?
There’s a few players I’ve played against in their early days who haven’t done too bad for themselves, one of them being Jordan Henderson.
8. Who is the best player you have played with in your career?
I’d have to say James brown. At the time when he was at Hartlepool he was brilliant but unfortunately had his career cut short due to injury.
9. Do you set personal targets with how many goals you would like to score in a season?
I'm looking for 20 goals this season, I’m not the type of striker to be prolific because of the work I put into battling defenders, holding the ball up and assisting others.
10. Have you got a message for the supporters?
Just that I can’t wait to get started, I’m excited for the season ahead and looking forward to hopefully a successful campaign. They’ll see a very honest player in myself when I pull on the shirt each week.
The Club would like to thank Matty for giving his time to share his aspirations for the Club.
