Marske United manager Carl Jarrett gave his reaction following the 2-0 defeat away at Lancaster City.

“Mixed feelings in that game to be fair. On the first half display, two sloppy goals to give away. We spoke about obviously the lad who scored the goal.

“We spoken about obviously defensively being as strong as we can on set plays. We got caught straight away on the free kick.

“Gone over the top of Kevin. He’s got a great header. Second goal Swannies come out to catch one, dropped that and he’s put us…it’s just been hard.

“The first 15-20 minutes, but then we spoke about certain things at half-time. Changed the shape a little bit. I think we created 5 or 6 chances where realistically we have to be hitting the target. We gotta be be scoring goals.

“But I did speak about the last few weeks. People turn around and say they have been defensively strong but havn’t scored enough goals, defensively weak and they’ve scored goals.

“So it’s them mixed feelings and we have to get ourselves understanding our defense straight from the first minute to the 90th minute to try and keep cleansheets, try and hit the target and score goals. That’s what football is about. They have done the non league stuff more than what we did Lancaster in the first half today.

“Turned the ball over well, got themselves in good areas and we did not compete as much as what we should have done in the first half as I thought we were very disappointing at the start, but then second half was a good performance.

“ It was sort of a flipped display from Saturday, because on Saturday I thought first half we were good and I thought we were poor in the second half on Saturday. And I thought we were poor in the first half today, but very good in the second.

“We created some great chances there, the keeper has pulled off a couple of good saves, but even so we should still be hitting the target on them.

“ A lot of positives to take out of that second half performance, but like I said to the lads you don’t get out of dogfights and relegation battles if you don’t pick up points.

"We did not deserve to pick up a point tonight because in my eyes the first half display, too sloppy goals.”
