Marske United are pleased to confirm the signing of defender Aaron Cunningham.

The 25-year-old centre-back has previously played for Blyth Spartans and Spennymoor Town and made 22 appearances for Whitby Town earlier this season.

The defender is local, being born in Durham, and very familiar with the area having also played for Hartlepool United in the past during their days in the National League.

Cunningham is available for selection tomorrow against Warrington Town

Welcome aboard Aaron. We are delighted to have you with us!

Speaking about Aaron joining the club, returning Marske United manager Carl Jarrett said “I spoke to Aaron a couple of years back believe it or not. He was out of Hartlepool, had a bad injury at the time and was looking to find a club to get back into training.

“At the time it didn’t happen. That is just football. But he moved on to Whitby. He is a good lad, terrific local lad. Which is one of the things I do look at.

“Not disregarding anyone who lives further away, but I want them to fit the mould of what I want and they will work in the club. He is big and he is strong. He can play numerous positions as we know.

“He can play Centre Midfield, Centre-Half in a back three or four. He has a wealth of experience. An ex pro. He should be a good signing on paper.

“ I am hoping he fits in really well. He’s been lacking a few games of late at Whitby, through no fault of his own, as the lad who took his place did really well so I’ll hep him get back and have a look.

“ I meet him as well tomorrow so I’ll have a bit of crack with him, but I am looking forward to working with him and getting back into the club.”

Stay tuned as later tonight we will bring you more reaction from new manager Carl Jarrett on his thoughts on returning to the club for his third spell in charge.
