Conner Kacperski18 Mar 2023 - 15:11

This morning Simon Wall from Seasiders Live spoke to Marske Utd U11 Girls Team coach and founder Amanda van Wyk.

You can read the full transcript below or watch the interview here

So we're here at Westgarth with the Marske United Girls team and we've got Amanda here, who's been instrumental in setting it all up and good turn-out for you

Yeah, it's great we've. Consistently had about 10 or 11 players every single week, so we're really looking forward to playing some friendly games soon.

And apparently, they've come on such a long way in the six or seven weeks that you've been going?

They have, they're really enthusiastic . A week on Tuesday as well we are supporting Marske United at home, in our new strips.

So we're looking forward to getting on the pitch, waving the flags and all that sort of stuff. Penalty shootout half time as well?

Yeah, definitely. Yes, why not?

Let's hope so. And if not, we'll get that sorted out for you.

Definitely!

And Lee's not here today? Not well. Bless him (Lee Guess, Head Coach)

Lee's not here. Bless him. He's full of man flu. But it's the first week that he hasn't turned up, so we've got Enzo, who's coaching them mainly.

We've got Olivia there as well. So just playing a little game at the minute and hopefully Lee will be back next week because he's doing brilliantly.

So still looking for players, or are you ok?

Yeah, still looking for players. We've sent out a we've sent out a note to Saint Peters School to Errington. We've got our own Facebook page. As well, which is Marske United U11 girls. So yeah, you can follow us.

Excellent stuff. Lovely. Thanks, Amanda.

Alright, thanks a lot.

Take care. Cheers. Bye

Later on, Head Coach Lee also got in touch as well to provide an additional update on the fantastic work going on behind the scenes.

Referring to his recovery and his absence in a light-hearted manner Lee said “It was also my beautiful nieces 1st birthday which I was attending as well.

“It's a good opportunity for Enzo who's going to be the main coach when his level 1 is complete to do his first full session supported by Amanda and Olivia.

“The girls are loving it and doing really really well”

Everyone at the club would like to wish Amanda, Lee, Enzo, Olivia and all rest of the team all the best and congratulate them on their great work so far.
