Nantwich Town 1 Marske Utd 2: Post Match Reaction

Conner Kacperski21 Feb 2023 - 22:56

Marske United Manager Curtis Woodhouse gave his assessment on the team’s 2-1 away win at Nantwich Town in the Northern Premier League.

On the game itself

“I thought first half we were brilliant and second half showed another side to us as well.

"We absorbed a little bit of pressure and this might sound crazy but when they got it back to 2-1 I thought this would be pivotal moment in our season. Can we hang on or are we going to fold?

"It was a big question and we hung on in there and defended like trojans and I’m mega mega proud of them in there. Nice to get that winning feeling again.”

On the makeshift defence and battling hard

“We turned up with 13 players tonight. We’ve got Alex Storey who couldn’t make it because of work commitments. We have Wheats the captain out injured.

" We have Kevin Burgess out injured. We have Jorge Sikora out suspended. So we were literally down to threadbare.

“ I could ask JK (Jason Kennedy) to play anywhere on the pitch and know he’s going to give me (everything) and people like your JK’s your Rio’s, your Macca’s, experienced lads out there today.

“They are the heartbeat of this football club. We need them to stay in this league and they are fully behind what we are doing and I am more than confident they can drive us on to safety.

“And if we don’t it won’t be through lack of effort as these lads have given absolutely everything tonight.”
