Marske United are back at home this weekend welcoming top of the table South Shields to Mount Pleasant in what should be a well-attended fixture.

With this being a re-arranged game, tickets from the original fixture will still be valid and accepted at the turnstiles.

A big crowd is expected at Mount Pleasant so supporters are advised to arrive early. The club house bar will be available from 1pm with the gates into the ground opening shortly after at 1.30pm.

Marske United lost 2-0 to Lancaster City away midweek in their relegation battle, conceding two first half goals, but dominating the second stint with an abundance of chances, while South Shields have only lost four game all season and sit well clear of the rest of the division.

Looking ahead to the game Marske United manager Carl Jarrett refused to write off the fixture in his preview and relished the challenge that a tough test brings.

Previewing the game Jarrett said: “I don’t like the words free hit because I am trying to do my job and every game I can take to try and get points and hopefully make things hard.

“If we play like Lancaster did in the first half against South Shields, give them no space anywhere, turn the ball over and be ugly and that is what we are going to have to be. Strong as a unit, especially against South shields because they have got so much quality across the park.

"They can pass people across the park. Do all sorts. They have got so much talent in their squad. That is why they sit top of the league and fair play to them and we will be after them on our own.

“It is going to be difficult on our pitch to play any football, so we have looked at that, but we will give all of our own if we possibly can. We have to set up right. We have to see if the lads can give us a second half performance (like against Lancaster) throughout the game.”
