Assistant Manager Ian Clark gives an honest assessment after Saturday's Fa Cup defeat

Clarky another defeat and for the second week in a row, the game was pretty much over by half time. Where'd it go wrong today?

Set pieces. You can't defend in one box and you can't score goals in the other box you're gonna struggle.

Started the game, I thought OK. First throw-in comes in, big number five wins it, second one comes in. Big number five wins in second phase, Score and then I think it's tough at the moment.

The mentality at the moment is there's no real desire and fight and then we concede another goal and we're four nil down after 32 minutes.

We’ve gotta be stronger in both boxes. I know people can talk about height difference, but they did have height difference, but still you got to get ahold of your man.

Spoke about it. Your man doesn't score. I mean it's it's tough because obviously.

Clientele changed so giving people who were playing a change from what it was the previous week, so understanding who to pick up, but I think we've got to take responsibility out there as well, and understand that that's my man.

It can't be left to just one or two just to pick up. It's gotta be left. It's we are a collective, it's. A we not an I. And and it's a shame but the game was done in 32 minutes.

How do you change that with the players?

Well, we've had a good, long, honest talk in there. Listen, I'm not ‘We've won the second-half one nil’. That's a byproduct of losing 4 nil.

You know, I mean. They took the foot off the gas, they've made two or three subs ,but you know what? When we put the balls in the right areas and they've players have done what we've asked, we've created chances. Lads have come on and we've made a difference.

We can't hide away from the fact. We can't shy away from the challenge. We've got to be better than have been. No uncertain terms, it's a tough league.

It's a tough opportunity to win games. We're finding that really tough at the moment.

We've won two all season, so we've got to look at ourselves first and foremost. We will, as a management team, we've gotta accept responsibility. We put them players on the pitch and obviously they've got to do the jobs,

We saw Camron, come on in the second-half, he's got a pedigree. Playing at this level and looked pretty useful when he came on, what will he bring to the team?

I mean, he came in for one training session on Thursday. The lad looked good, so we got him signed and he's come on in the second-half there and he did, he looked really, really good.

He's settled in really well. He has got a good pedigree. He's got to come from a high background. Was saying the kids come in on a Thursday? We're with him one training session. After that you can see he's got good pedigree. But I say we are four nil down its not fair on the kid.

There will be fans concerned about the current results and the performances. What's your message to them?

Rightly so, We're coming off and there’s fans shouting 'embarrassing' at us. And I've got to accept it. Players have got to accept it. You are 4 nil down. You can't hide away from it.

These people have paid their money to come and watch us. You've got to go out there and give your all whether that’s for Matlock, Man Utd or Man City.

Personal pride, and I'm not gonna hide away from anybody telling me that it's not a good enough job. I accept it’s not a good enough job. We're losing games.

We're conceding goals off eight in two games. Before that, so we know where there's a problem, but obviously we get the lads 2 sessions a week.

We want to try and put it right, we work on it, we work on it again Tuesday / Thursday.

But I'm not gonna shy away from a challenge. It's what it's all about. I've been at this club a long time and I want to succeed. Spike is trying, working, doing his best. The club are doing their best. It’s a catalyst of what’s happening but we have to change what’s happening on that pitch.

To be Better and at the moment we can't go into games four nil down at 32 minutes, four nil down after 34 minutes last week and expect to win games.

I mean, Curtis, come on. It's. Got a great goal. But no, don't remember that cause the four nil down.

Cheers, Clarky
