The club are delighted to announce the re-launch of the Marske United Reserves team and unveil our exciting plans for this season
About the team

Marske United Reserves have historically been an instrumental part of the club, and supporters of a certain age will fondly recall their time battling in the Stokesley & District League in the 70s.

The Reserves team was officially reformed last season and currently compete in the North Riding League Division 1 (Step 8).

They are managed by Andy Harkin who helped guide them to a respectable 11th place league finish last season. Andy won volunteer of the year at our annual presentation evening after coming out on top in a supporter’s ballot.

The team are back in pre-season training looking to recruit new players for the upcoming season.

The next training session is due to take place on Thursday evening, and anyone interested should get in touch via the email below.

So far the sessions are already attracting great interest, with one Northern League calibre player dropping down to work alongside the team retaining fitness and supporting the lads before a move to University mid September.

New Stadium & Great Facilities

The club is delighted to announce that this season our Reserve Team games will be played at New Marske Sports Club.

The changing rooms at New Marske are among the best in the division and these great facilities will provide a real step up from last season and give the team a stronger platform to showcase it's potential.

Moving forward the club are also hoping to foster a stronger sense of community and are exploring the possibility of opening up the club house after games either at New Marske or just down the road at Mount Pleasant.

First Team Integration & Pathway

Last year Reserve team striker Bilal Shelmani made the step up from the Reserves to the First Team showcasing the potential of the pathway in terms of progression.

This year with the arrival of Graeme Lee, as First Team Manager after ten years coaching at Middlesbrough's academy, there will be more integration and overlap between the First Team and the Reserves.

There are plan for the Reserves to potentially be joined by young first team players in training with the possibility of playing in Reserve matches to provide additional support to the core Reserve team in their league campaign.

Outlining his vision, Graeme said "The plan will be to work closer with the Reserves, for players to see a pathway.

"Long term we will be building a pathway from the youth to the reserves up to the first team."

Stronger Media Presence

For the 2023/24 season, results and news from the Reserve team will be shared on the official Marske United club accounts to keep supporters up to date with how the team is faring.

The club website will also continue to showcase the Reserves Fixtures, Results and League Table as well and will also feature the squad roster once finalised.

Speaking about the positive plans in place Marske United Reserve Team Manager Andy Harkin said: "The plans put in place by the club for the forthcoming season show the ambition to build the reserves and utilise us as a key part of Marske United.

“I am excited for what this season can bring"
